Just a reminder: The Shore Basketball Coaches’ Association Senior All-Star Games for the boys and girls, sponsored by All Shore Media, will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) at Freehold Township High School. The girls game is at 6 p.m. followed by the boys game at 8 p.m., and there will also be a 3-point shooting contest for the boys and girls. So come out and check out all of the Shore’s top seniors one last time and see how they measure up against one another. We will have the stories and all the highlights from the event, so be sure to check the site if you can’t make it.
Now, some quick college commitments: St. John Vianney senior guard Kate Wilverding has committed to SUNY-Oneonta, according to Lancers coach Dawn Karpell. That means SJV’s three main seniors are all continuing their careers in college as, in addition to Wilverding, senior guard Katelyn Linney has committed to Fairfield and senior guard Jen Mulvey is headed to Sacred Heart to play soccer.
Another notable basketball player who is moving on to play soccer at the next level is Freehold Township senior Cristina Barthel, who has committed to Seton Hall. Barthel will be playing in her final basketball game on her home court on Tuesday night during the girls Senior All-Star Game.
Anyone else who has any college commitments can e-mail them to me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will make sure to post them.
A few other quick updates: I am aiming to have the All Shore Media All-Shore Conference teams on the site by Friday and maybe even Thursday night if I can get everything tracked down as far as stats, so stay tuned for that.
I also am working on preseason baseball and other stuff, so expect to see plenty of baseball coming soon, hopefully this weekend. I also have a football story coming for the site tomorrow about a former player who has a shot to be signed by an NFL team who isn’t named Knowshon Moreno or Donald Brown.
