Baseball Previews Coming Wed. at noon/Some Football College Commitments

Sorry for the delay on the baseball previews, I had been rounding up all of the preseason info but had to take a timeout on Tuesday for a health issue, which slowed the process to a halt for a day.  I am back in one piece and will work hard to get the baseball previews up by noon on Wednesday on the site and then I will continue to add more stuff as the day goes along before I head to a game as a long as the rain doesn’t become a nuisance. I just hope it’s better than last year, when I watched Keyport and St. Rose play for about 3 1/2-4 innings before a deluge came and wiped out the game.

Looking at the forecast, it looks like Wednesday could be spotty, Thursday should be fine and Friday could be wiped out, which then could affect Saturday’s slate of games (including Midd. North at CBA in A North) depending on how bad it gets on Friday. Toms River South is at Jackson Memorial on Thursday which could possibly be Tyler Gebler vs. Kevin Needham on the mound, so hopefully the weather holds off. I’m pretty sure Needham will go for the Jaguars, and if Gebler doesn’t start as he rounds back into form off basketball season, we could possibly get a good look at junior Andrew McGee, who I thought was impressive in his limited duty last year as a sophomore. We’ll see.

Also, if you want to go check out the cream of the crop on Thursday among pitching stars, CBA star Pat Light will make his first start of the year on the mound for the Colts when they take on Howell in A North. However, he will most likely be on a fairly low pitch count, according to CBA coach Marty Kenney, so you will want to get there for the start of the game. Light is still sharpening back to form after starring on the basketball court for CBA, where he was the All Shore Media Player of the Year during the winter.

I will also have some feature stories coming out in the next few days as all the spring stuff gets started across all the sports. I have one offseason football story that I haven’t been able to get to recently as we are doing a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff (all of it positive), including launching a free newspaper for everyone to enjoy, so I have run out of time on a few occasions, but I promise I will work to get all this stuff on the site. A rainy day might actually be a good thing at this point.

I also have more football college commitments to report – The following Barnegat seniors have all committed to the following schools according to head coach Rob Davis, so congrats to this group of Bengals.

(WR) Dan Cintron – Leigh University
(OL) Doug Pannone – Montclair State
(DB) Josh Ahiabor – William Paterson University
(RB) Mike Notabartolo – Wesley College
Also, Monmouth Regional quarterback Anthony Fruncillo, who had 1,137 total yards during the fall, is headed to FDU-Florham in the New Jersey Athletic Conference on a team loaded with former Shore Conference players to continue his career, according to Falcons coach Sal Spampanato, so congrats to Anthony, who at 6-3, 215 pounds certainly has the size to make an impact with FDU, where the current starting quarterback is former Brick signal-caller Bill Winters. Former Monmouth quarterback Tom D’Ambrisi also had a great season as a freshman for NJAC foe Kean University this past fall.
