The following is the latest press release from Neptune graduate (and former long-time Milwaukee Bucks p.r. man) Bill King regarding Neptune’s inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Friday at the high school:

The Neptune High School Athletic Hall of Fame has announced inaugural enshrinement ceremonies will be celebrated on Friday, October 23.  Eleven individual athletes, two coaches, five teams and four contributors will be inducted.  The Neptune High School Athletic Hall of Fame was established by the Neptune Red and Black Booster Club in 2008.  The purpose is to maintain a lasting tribute to sports figures that have dominated their sport and brought fame to the Township of Neptune.

The inductees are:

Individual Athletes:  Keith Alston*, Dawn Bowles-Fitch, Arnold Brown*, Millie Calderon, John  Chambers, Bob Davis, Ann Lombardi, Ken O’Donnell, Nate Ramsey, Bob Tiedemann and Joe  Vetrano*.

Coaches: Larry Hennessy* and Hank Nonnenberg*.

Teams: 1923 Football, 1980 Soccer (boy’s), 1981 Basketball (boy’s), 1984 Basketball (girl’s) and  1987 Field Hockey.

Contributors: Miss E. Elizabeth Adams*, Betty Holmes, Betty and Raymond* Reynolds,  Richard* and Margaret Miller.

The induction ceremony will be held at the 1,600 seat Michael T. Lake Performing Arts Center at Neptune High School beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, October 23.  A reception will follow in the atrium surrounding the “Forward for Neptune” statue immediately outside the PAC.

Tickets for the event are $20 each and provide admittance to both the ceremony and reception. Tickets are now on sale at the Neptune High School Activities Office at 55 Neptune Boulevard, Neptune, New Jersey.  Tickets will also be on sale at Neptune High School the evening of the enshrinement ceremonies.

The enshrinement ceremony kicks off homecoming weekend for Neptune High School.  In addition to the Friday night ceremony, inductees have been invited to participate in the Homecoming Parade from Neptune High School to the Summerfield football stadium on Saturday, October 24 at 11:00 a.m.  Then, prior to the 1 p.m. homecoming game vs. Middletown South, the first class of the Neptune Athletic Hall of Fame will be introduced at 12:45 p.m.  Following the game there will be a barbeque at Garden Bar Liquors (Sprengel’s) at 2447 Route 33 in Neptune (intersection of Hwy. 33 and Wayside Road).
