This week’s showdown between Middletown South and Neptune at Memorial Field in Neptune that will decide the Federal Division champion has been moved from Saturday to Sunday at 1 p.m. in anticipation of rain on Saturday, according to highschoolsports.net. The game is Neptune’s homecoming game and will also feature a pregame ceremony starting at 12:45 p.m. that will honor the inaugural class of Neptune’s newly created Athletic Hall of Fame, which will be formally inducted at the high school tonight, so they want the best weather possible for that.
Also, the Manasquan at St. John Vianney game is now Sunday at 2 p.m. because of the death of a Manasquan student, Matthew Caughey, who was hit by a train early this morning. I think this is the second time this has happened in about a year at Manasquan, which is just awful to hear. Our condolences to Caughey’s family.
That leaves only three games scheduled for Saturday – Marlboro at Toms River South at 1 p.m.; Colts Neck at Lacey at 1 p.m. and Ocean at Matawan at 6 p.m.
